Best Sunblock for Surfers???

OK Gulfsurfer, all you need is 1 part beewax, 3 parts oil (this can be any beneficial oil like coconut, olive, almond, or mustard. There are many possible oils but just make sure that they do not contain preservatives. Mustard is reputed to have anti carcinogenic qualities), and then add 10 % by weight of zinc oxide. Zinc oxide can be bought from farming suppliers, pottery goods suppliers, or a pharmacist.
Melt the wax, then mix in the oil, then mix in the zinc oxide. Stir while the mix cools to prevent the zinc from sinking.
The wax/oil mix can be adjusted for a thicker or thinner paste.

I think we're getting skin cancer because of the things that we're putting into the air and stuff instead of on our skin... They're making the earths sunblock go away.

I'd been reading this thread too so really dont have any excuse :oops:

I have managed to burn my stomach (ouch!), under my chin, the top and the bottom of my back (but not the middle!), my shoulders, my face and the top of my chest :cry:

Go buy a bunch of aloe-vera plants, and stick them in lots of sun and give them lots of water (but don't drown them) so they grow fast, fertlize them too, and then when you're sunburned badly cut a leaf off, and squeze out teh goo in the middle of it, and rub that on yourself. If you want an even better version that requires some mixing, add a little bit of peppermint extract to what you squeeze out, and put your plant in the fridge for a half hour or so before you put it on.

Try that, it should work.

or just go & buy good quality moisturiser with aloe-vera content. Much cheaper than buying the plants, less messy work, less time consuming and it even comes in a user-friendly squirty bottle thing. Amazing. *smirk*

It's unfair that we live in England, have rain/coldness for at least half the year, and then still manage to go out in the first bit of sun of the year ... and get burnt.

Go ahead and quote us a suitable product then clever boy, brand name, complete list of ingredients and all! Aloe Vera isn't so good when mixed with petrochemicals and industrial waste products, even if it is nicely wrapped.

BTW Aloe Vera straight from the plant is not at all messy. Ever tried it? Also it is easy to grow. Ever grown it?

Yeah, i agree with Roy and Deathfrog, aloe vera plants are very easy to grow and its not messy or anything. O yea, and it feels good when you're burnt!

Brent, Trolling is what you are doing.

For an aftersun formula we use coconut oil (which is also good for removing zinc block if you happen to have beenusing it. Coconut oil is full of vitamin E and it is also an antiseptic.

Over here we can buy 750ml bottles of coconut oil for NZ$4. The company is Punjas in Fiji.
