What does everyone drive to the beach?

i drive a tiny honda civic. i can easily fit my 6'6 inside but my 9'2 LB rides on the roof, and sometimes if it's extra windy, i start getting nervous. my next car will definitely be an SUV or pickup, hybrid.

i hate seeing my board wiggle on my roof when it's windy or when i'm driving too fast!

Yeah, I would love to drive to farther breaks (1-2 hours away) but I'm scared my board will be the casualty of speedy highway driving. I've heard horror stories of people's boards flying off their cars while they were on the freeway. Imagine THAT flying at your face. A stray board in the water is nothing compared to that.

You should retro fit a lawn mower to it - great pics of your boards, but you really need to cut the grass....

Honda Civic Type-R. Never tried to get my board in as don't want to get wax on the suede. Used a soft rack for a while but when i tied it down tight the roof would pop in (the metal is thin to keep the weight down). Bought a Thule rack off ebay for £12. Now it's good for 110mph (when no ones looking) with the board on the roof. Fuel consumption aint bad either at around 36mpg.

dodge p/u work/surf ride. 30.000 miles shagging surf and money each year.

converts to about $7500.00 for gas with the v8. not to mention the set of tires , and the oil changes.

If I could only drive a prius....it wouldn't tow the work trailer to well tho.
