What I really like about the women surfers (no, not that!) is the way they really use their upper body - turn and look, turn their arms and shoulders. A lot of the men dont seem to do it that much, Im not sure why - probably some question of strength, the men just muscle their boards around perhaps. The women seem to flow much more with the wave - Steph Gilmour epitomises this. Anyway, at our non pro level, the women are often much better examples to (attempt to) copy than the men, albeit that I'm doing it pretty poorly. If you watch the the video linked, they do beautiful textbook bottom and particularly top turns/cutbacks.
Its sort of like golf - the women have pure clean swings, the men just muscle their way through any flaws.
