Do I fit the stereo typical surfer. You tell me. I live about 10 minutes away from the beach in Southern California. I am 41 married with two teen age kids. I am not a health food nut. I would starve if I lived that way. I don’t drink , smoke nor do I go out and hit the local coffee shop. I have an executive position for employments and make a very comfortable living for my family. I have a couple of cars, Lexus a Toyota Tundra quad cab and a Porsche, I ride motorcycles in the dirt. I am clean cut and spend my off time doing things with my family including surfing with them a couple times a week. I dedicate several hours a week working with a youth group to help them to be a success in life. I have been known to show up to the surf in a suite and tie. I dress in what I like and don’t follow any trends. I listen to all sorts of music including Clasical and Jazz. I like going to listen to the symphony. I attend church every Sunday. I have no problem placing chemical on my yard to kill insects. You tell me if I am the stereo typical surfer.

i have long messy hair
i wear T shirts bordies and flip flops
i live 10 min drive from my closest break
i put every thing off to go surfing
my car is full of sand and bits of surf wax
im studying ocean science (so i can surf more work less)
i listen to all sorts of music apart from maybe country and weston
i spend all my time on the internet looking at long range pressure charts, wave boy data, weather reports, and the odd surf forcasting site.

i guess im your stereo typical surfer. but i surf and dont drive around in a VW camper with a broken surfboard stapped to the roof

- work in New York in finance (was going to be a writer)
- dad of 3 boys (was going to be single for life)
- live in the suburbs (was going to live on the beach)
- short hair (used to be long)
- listen to rock, alt, punk (no EMO, and my wife loves country music)
- been surfing 25 years (June to October only until recently I finally re-invested in a new wetsuit. Old one hasn't fit me in 10 years)
- own 3 boards (have only owned 4 through 25 years)

So, mainly, I'm a sell-out, I'd say.

What's gas prices looking like over there anyways?

gas prices are around $1.25 to $1.35 per L for unleaded, but LPG is only $0.52 per L.

Much more affordable, but the MX5 is still a lot cheaper to drive, and did I mention more fun?

Hmm let me see, I'm barefoot all the time except at school, ride skateboards when I am unable to surf, bombing, sliding, and carving. I have long hair, play guitar, people think I smoke but I'm just extremely chill the majority of the time unless someone really tries hard to piss me off. I love the outdoors, go fishing, hiking, and stuff, my dream home would be somewhere on a remote island with a nice break in the frontyard. I think about surfing 24/7 even when I'm at school and working which sometimes isn't a good thing. Listen to music alot. I do play sports though and live in the suburbs, not really rich enough to buy coffee or extroaneous stuff that I don't need to live on the average day. My old girlfriend called me surfer boy. All this despite I've only technically been a "surfer" for about 9 months, only four of which I've been able to surf, equals about 8 times out. I don't really care what people think of me, I am who I am and act the way I act. We had this discussion in my last controversial post. I'm definitely a soul surfer right now. :D

I have been a long haired, tiki wearing "surfer dude" and now have come out to the other side.

The student days are behind me and now I have a full time job, a wife and two kids. The upside is I can afford to live over looking the beach, I have a garage full of boards. The downside is I don't have time to surf as much as I did.

I do play guitar, but I did that before I could surf ! I was in Newquay two weeks ago and the place was full of "cool surfer dudes", but I noticed in the water, most of the people who could actually surf looked pretty much like regular guys to me, I wonder what that says !

EDIT : I realised that this sounds a bit bitter of me. It is. Girls do dig "surfer dudes" more ;)

I work in Finance for a biotech company, married with 2 children. I coach soccer for my children. I live basically on a mountain top 3 hrs from the beach. I've been playing guitar in my house for 15 years off and on. Listen to pretty much any rock music (current, old, heavy or soft)...just has to be good songwritting and talented musician band or singer. When I was a teenager/early adult, I only listened to heavy metal and classic rock...I'm more accepting of different genres as an adult. Used to be into golf, the got really into beach and indoor volleyball for about 15 years. I've gotten bored with volleyball and now surfing is my primary hobby and focus outside of work and family commitments.

i live in australia. live ten mins from the surf beach (25 mins from scarb beach). drive a jeep. was a skin head, grown it now. i've gone as far as even naming my boards. pamela, and, her name is joy.

so i guess, on the surfometer scale
(1 being 'all the gear no idea', 10 being 'can surf on a chopped down tree'

i'd be about 4. but heading in the right direction.

capeche??
