the poll was meant to be bias. for englishmen you fellas dont have much humor. i am so bored. what sucks is im too busy with school and work to surf, and i sit around fanning myself because of my insane metabolism at night. or when im feeling responsible i go to the library and do homework but thats rare.

are there any slopes in the UK?

BUHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA.....

Oh dear. I haven't laughed that hard in ages, a YANK saying the ENGLISH don't have a sense of humour.

Not the sharpest pencil in the bunch are you?

Why would you want to come here? We don't have a sense of humour.

:D

Plus it's cold.

But there are ski slopes, in Scotland, but it's grim up north! :D

Yeah, the british have a sense of humor, you just need to find it.

I have a feeling that living somewhere that it snows wouldn't affect the workload...

man i went up to the north shore today and caught one wave and got battered around by 10 ft waves the rest of the time. i had about 30 seconds of riding. the rest of the time i either just sat there, or felt like i was drowning being pounded by huge surf. one of the worst feelings ive ever had. and its always like that. now ill have water leaking out my nose for the night and a sore throat from all the salt water. the pressure also messes with my inner ear. even if i catch 4 or 5 waves. how much riding does that amount to? 3 min. max. and i cracked my board somehow. 70 bucks right there. snowboarding is so much more rewarding. the only reason i keep surfing is because i need the exercise to sleep at night and its too hot to do anything else. i think ill try diving.

getting held down a bit is what pisses you off about surfing? what you gonna be like after your first big snowboarding accident, cos they generally are a lot worse. I got a mate who did a season working and boarding at a resort, he ended up coming home sith one arm held together by a plate and about 6 or 7 screws. Now he cant hardly surf at all cos of it and has nerve damage and all sorts of other nasty problems from it.

you could always get a mountainboard, you can do that anywhere theres hills, its pretty close to snowboarding but you can have even more spectacular crashes 8)

id love to try mountainboarding but ugh to broken bones and such.

i know snowboarding has its incidents but for the most part its less than surfing. plus its less struggling and more riding. yesterday i almost threw up i was so scared. i got pushed by a current into the rocky shore, with whitewash that was 4 feet tall, paddling parallel to the shore to make it to the beach, about 40 feet away from the rocks. im going out again today. its supposed to be a bit cleaner and smaller.

hey foxboy, shutup. for all i know you could be riding whitewash in england with a longboard going out once a month max. either way i doubt youve watched sets roll down in on you that look so big the crest falls in slow motion. waves that spin you 360 deg. 3 times, push you right down to the bottom against the reef which is 10 ft. down, drag you 50 feet back, let you up for 3 seconds in the whitewater, and drag you back down again.

Well, I think surfing is more similar to backcountry boarding/skiing. You gotta actually climb up, do snow checks to make sure you don't die, and if the snow checks aren't good, too bad, you gotta climb down.

While skiing with a lift is like tow in surfing on whimpy waves. You get towed out, you get towed in, and you stand up and ride.

But I like backcountry skiing and regular surfing better. More work means more reward.

You're right, I've only surfed waist - chest high freezing cold waves in the UK,

What does that have to do with you insulting the english or everyone taking the piss out of your moaning?
