I agree. Ive got nothing against spongers, but its the standing up on the board that does it for me - I personally think you get a much better RUSH and ride on a surfboard.

Yes surfing is harder to learn. But whats harder to master? dont immedietly say surfing because it not true bdyboarding has manuevers in that are insanly hard check out jeff hubbards dk el rolo.

Yes any body can pick up a body board and catch a wave but not everyone is going to pick up a bodyboard and pull off a 720 in dk or an el rolo straight out.

Another thing i noticed a whle back. In san diego we had a huge winter swell in december the waves were pumping. Every surfer i spoke to swore blind that they were sufing the waves in ocean beach well i got news i was out that day and saw about 5 or six surfers where were all the hordes of people huh ( i call those people smurfers  )

As far as learning the rules i think most surfers need to revize this. If its small surf then yeah expect to get mobbed by a bucnh of tourists on polystyrene. If its big you may see one or two bb's out there normally locals anyway.

Dont knock body boarding just beacuse surfing is to begin with harder to learn. When it all equals out they both have their charms if you can bodyboard and surf really well then you truelly are a wave warrior ( most world class bb's are actually very good surfers its just preference that they go bbing).

At the end of the day whatever gives you the most enjoyement is what you will do. I happen to be learning to surf and hopefully one day i will be good at both.

oooohhhhhh do not take my posting too seriously.

Kitesurfer was a body boarder for a lot of years, but as we all know he is now on the right side, the surfboard side.

I just think it is funny how surfers slag off body boarders who slag surfers off and do not forget flippin surf skiers too.

I would have to agree with you their XS goat boaters are just a complete menace to society.
Ive seen far more collisions betweens goaters and anybody else in the sea 'cos most of them go out get caught by white water and totally smash anythinhg in their path.
I dont surf in rivers goat boaters shouldnt play in the surf!

Cool.

I personally do not have a problem with anyone doing what ever they like on the water as long as they respect my safety. my first post was just a P155take anyway.

Maybe this surfers vs body boards p155take is an age related thing as I have been surfing and doing other water sports for over 21 years.
May be, in this so called new world of political correctness, things have mooved forward a bit and we all should embrace our brothers and sisters.

My quick opion..

It's about preferances! If you like to stand with both feet planted and cutback, etc.. then go for it. If you like to bodyboard or drop-knee..go for it!!

Only thing I prefer abuot Bodyboarding is it cuts out posers. People who bodyboard generally do it because they like it, and not because its' "cool".

(good on ya' PapaW!)

I dont mind bodyboarding since a lot of people seem to do it here when the breaks arent that far from shore. This one spot I dont really like bodyboarders since theres hundreds of them I have to dodge while going down the wave :x .

1. Thats the best part of sponging for me, Taking on the stupid walls and ledges and getting slammed! allways good for a laugh!

2. In portugal bodyboarders outnumber stand-ups its about 60/40 at the moment but with all the image related bollox thats changing unfortunatly :(

boogers wonder why surfers use them for golf practice.
They drop in mouth off and carry on.
I think some boogers need to learn the rules and respect others in the water.
Why is it boogers always seem to be in the road when we take off.
Young boogers need to learn about respect in general.

I hear what you say about young boogers need to learn respect but i see the same thing in kitesurfing with young kids who think that just because they're half decent at kitesurfing they automatically earn your respect and don't have to bother to abide (if they even know them) by the rules of the sea and wave priority etc. I expect you'll see the same thing with young grommits as well in surfing, just do what's best so that they soon learn abit of respect for you!

You guys really need to define between real bodyboarders and thoese who have cheap-o planks of polystyrine.... Bodyboarders just like any other serious water users won't drop in unless its called for. or a mistake.

I really am sick of people going on and on about being drop in on by spongers. I bet you it doesn't happen in sizes over 3ft cause its only reall surfers and reall sponmgers that can get out.

And as for droping in ingerneral then stand-ups are by far the worst nowadays. Christ the do it to each other, and everyone.... Attitude sucks.
