I seem to remember hearing somewhere that you're quite young... I wouldn't suggest doing weights bro.... you can hurt yourself AND stunt your growth

think its ok if you do light weights but high reps, its when you try and bulk up it causes problems

I would suggest using machine based weights rather than free weights, as bad form can cause injuries, and can be avoided using machines. You are probably at a good age to start, but like the others said: low weight, high reps.

Noone has mentionned Yoga yet.

Seems to be practiced by a disproportionate number of quality surfers.

Yep, that's also good, I'm a definately out of practice on that one. They even have a several DVDs of yoga for surfers out there, I've got one, watched it, but haven't actually done it yet. That really helps the flexibility of those of us who aren't very flexible.

Just lower your carb intake. (i.e bread, potatoes, pasta etc) DON'T cut it out completely, like those Atkin's fools your body needs carbs. (Hence people following Atkins religeously, dying)

It's the carbs that add the weight.

I wish the carbs could add me some weight. I eat like 4 PBJ's a day (on top of regular meals) and still cannot add any weight at all (iv been at 155 for like 6 years now ever since i quit hockey and dropped 20 lbs).

Looking at getting a copy of [url=

i have to disagree here, machine weights isolate individual muscles -which is great if you just wanna build up and look bigger, but if your after usable strength in the real world go for free weights. Just balancing the weights during the movement brings in all the other little muscles which otherwise wouldnt get worked. Do compound movements like squatting, deadlifts and bench presses, these work your whole body rather than isolation movements like bicep burls which have no practical application.

Well said Mr GC. In my opionon which doesn't count for much (but I am a trained PE teacher and have been training with a friend who is a personal trainer) you ned to do activities that mimic what you will be doing so training with weights will be good, but I would advise swimming but try using hand paddles as this will increase the resistance making it a lot harder to swim and you will tire quicker although you'll be quicker in the water. Do what your doing, press ups, sit ups burpees star jumps etc

If all else fails I can get you some roids if you wanna get massive!!! lol
