OMS- Your speed turns and pumping are fine . I was referring to those that hop and jump up and down on their board, thinking it's pumping, when it's not.
To check which one your are:
1) The BODY is basically stationary and the board is moving up and down.
2) The BOARD is stationary and the body is basically just moving up and down.

The front footed lifting thing you've described doing is not so much "Pumping" as it is Hopping.

You can evaluate yourself on the video. Is the body going up and down to the board or is the board going up and down to the body ?
What you're doing is neither Pumping or Hopping, ......... it's more of a bouncing movement. But if it helps you to make sections, that's good. You could also try taking a step toward instead.

true, but my reflexes aren't dialed to stepping back before pearling.
