Modern surfing is essentially a sport that revolves around waiting in line. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren't very good at sitting in line. I've had some good conversations in the water though. You also have a mix of different ages out there. You don't have too many opportunities, in the US at least, to interact socially with people of all ages in the same place. Sometimes in a lineup, however, I feel like I'm spending a lot of my time sitting on a very expensive bar stool.

icetime wrote:I still bail my board when I'm scratching from the horizon and I know I won't make it so I swim through the face with the nose of my board in my hand, it's enough to pull it through the face, then there's also when a wave is literally going to break on your head and you have nowhere to go
Bailing does have it's time but not to ditch a 2ft whitewater or an unbroken wave :x

Holding the nose is way safer and effective I just think surf schools/ lessons need to emphasise on not being dangerous with your board etc.

Yes and apparently at least on my computer the report post buttons disappeared but if you mouse over where they are then you can report it. I did already so usually they get around to deleting this type of post pretty soon. Hopefully diegored hasn't taken over Surfing Waves
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Perhaps he doesn't know any better. Perhaps you should have a word with him and let him know.

yeah i agree. you can confront someone politely. the dude is trying to surf but forgets the surrounding where others surf as well.

I think it's about obvious when your paddling out in a designated swimming area on a hot day? You cannot forget you're right next to them

well yeah maybe he is just egoistic and stupid. but if you approach someone politely you try your best not to assume that.
some people are so busy trying that they forget everything around them. this is just me trying to think the good of someone.
