Other than that I eat fairly simply at home and while at work I am on a seefood diet. I see food and I eat it :) We get so much food brought to us at work it's hard to resist. This morning someone dropped off a glazed donut for me and from last night a chocolate chip brownie which is my second breakfast which I ate at work after eating a huge bowl of Cheerios at home this morning. I drink lots of coffee black or iced tea also unsweetened. I eat very little processed food at home except Cheerios or other cereals and Triscuts and cheese and beer (and sometimes Kim Chee)

Hi
I think you should also add protein supplement in your diet and creatine is better one according to your dietary need. When creatine hit the shelves in the early '90s, it quickly became the supplement of choice for athletes the world over.
A supplement that can support increases in size and strength - as attested to by countless scientific studies - creatine (monohydrate, the version that, despite many new revolutionary forms, still seems to work best in the long run) will, for most, boost lean muscle mass and amplify strength gains.

Hey, what is considered some useful supplements if you want to increase your performance/recovery/power/etc? I've looked at things like "whey protein" in combination with some other supplements which are said to increase "strength and power", I use whey protein in my training and I feel like it has a massive effect. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who feels they may not recover fully from session to session.

I read up on vitamins and there is no definite research showing that it is good for your body. However if you're deficient in one and you lack the diet to make up for it then that vitamins definitely help. I started taking them recently too.

I guess surfers are no different from other athletes in that they are looking for an edge, some magic to make them perform better. The creatine nonsense, protein powders, yada yada yada..
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

For recovery, I use Turmeric. Its an anti-inflammatory and seems to help my joint issues. The tincture type works best.

I bet a large portion of upper level surfers take cbd oil. I grow turmeric and use it as a seasoning. It is related to ginger and tastes somewhat similar.

Collagen is one of the most important elements for beauty and health produced by our body. Collagen affects the amount, thickness, length, pigmentation of hair; flexibility, strength and growth of nails. It determines the thickness and degree of hydration of the skin, the rate of its aging. As one of the most important proteins in the body, collagen makes up about 6% of the total body weight. Its main function is to hold and bind all cells together. It is from collagen that the human body is formed. This protein also makes all tissues strong: ligaments, cartilage and bones.

any new developments on this thread? I have since upped my caffeine intake lol.. with a full scoop of pre workout now lol.. its a bit of a junkie thing i think.. i like the feeling it gives me more than the performance lol.. but it does help with some quality carbs and bcaa..

hydration is high on my list these days.. while surfing i constantly spit.. bad habit.. then drink two plus litres of water after which doesn't seem to help..

anyways hope your surfing days are well

I discovered magnesium recently. I read Waikiki’s post and wonder if it isn’t helping my shoulder as well which used to ache but does t as much anymore. Started taking a calcium/mag supplement for cramps; used to get them about an hour into a session if I didn’t tank up on electrolytes before the session. Those drinks are also sugar loaded so I wanted an alternative. Been working like a charm so long as I drink enough water. Seems no way around that bit.

Generally, I eat what I like but try to limit portion size and carbs. If I go for seconds it will be for the proteins.

My family doctor said in a recent physical exam that the supplements I was taking were creating very expensive pee! Back to the drawing board.

Magnesium is more effective for muscle cramp, as a long time chiropractor dealing with surfers and gymnasts I suggest a routine of either and or yoga and Pilates or even yogalates, the surfers who have the longest and most flexible surf life, have a regular session often light daily and an an expanded session every couple of days, Gerry Lopez, even older John Peck, Tom Carroll, seek and you will see who does this,.

BTW hip problems are not sciatica, and require different treatment get it properly diagnosed. : :D
