haha no i've seen them but its usually those guys who don't know what they are doing, or are stealing all the waves. i've seen 2 brothers down at the wedge 20ft+ SUPing lol. i just would rather shortboard.

vandangos – I agree ……

On a good day there are only a few (Two !) Sup’ ers I would want near me - one being a UK champion and an ex global longboard pro, the other a dude who is teaching his son to surf - opposite ends of the rainbow but respectful to others and phenomenally competent in the water.

(maybe three – the cat too (was it you ?!)).

I got a sup about 6 months ago and its cool, lets me surf when there's not really a surfable wave. Also lets me paddle about when totally flat. But things got really interesting when the waves picked up a bit - turns an average 2ft wave into what feels like a powerfull 3-4ft wave.
I also just got back into windsurfing, cos for me its all about water time bassically. End of.
So I either move to somewhere the surf goes off all the time or I look for additional ways of having fun in the water... and I'm not moving just yet. :P

I think its what kooks who can't surf do. Most of the time they are old. they are so annoying with their big long goon cords. Goon cords, god I hate them, ruined surfing.

i've meet all kinds of surfers, but for the most part i find stand up paddlers to be really cocky, or just relaxed like crazy

its always entertaining out back with a SUP nearby, waiting for a set, when the guy falls off and tries to get back up standing on his board without looking like a complete penis... cant help but laugh loudly when it happens!

i also find it hilarious when they seem to congregate so far out together, towards the horizon... when a set is on they all start moving in like a slow moving flock of swans. its a ridiculous site to behold. as entertaining as it is i dont like them, due to the liability reasons already mentioned.

yes, longboarders can be frustrating sometimes by claiming too many waves when you're out there with your shortie, but these SUP's are on another level...

People like SUP because they like canoeing, if you have a canoe, just stand up in it and walllaa, you are SUPing! It is that awesome! standing in a canoe and paddling!

When I was in Kill Devil Hills there were SUPs. They didn't really bother anyone, so I am one of the ones who say I have no issue with them personally. I am sure there are some who are horrible and get in the way but that can go for any crowd.

If you know what you are doing, sup can be much fun or a great way to chill out in the sea. But when begginers take it out because its easier to catch waves with that, then none likes to see sups.

The only issue I have with SUPers is that they can sit deeper than everyone else and pick off all the set waves. They can sit deeper than longboarders. Occasionally here in San Diego you have an a-hole SUP guy snagging every set wave. When this happens, me and my buddies start going even if the SUP is already on the wave. If they can't share the waves, they shouldn't get pissed when I drop in on them.

first of all Stand up Paddling is a good relax. It gives You the possibility to cruise to places You havent been before.
It is also a good start for surfing. Now when You have inflatable SUP it is easy to take it on hollidays or anywhere You want.
I have a SUPAIR 10'0 board and I use it for Stand Up paddle boarding on flat days and also learning surfing.
I know that for surfers it is similar like longboard for skateboarders but I enjoy it and that's it:)
