hi millie, my guess u r not a swimmer? if so, I wouldn't suggest u to jump into surfing yet.. it's not a 'must' rule, but being able to swim makes u confident in the water so that u can enjoy surfing instead of worring about drowning all the time....

While it is physically possible to paddle out and catch waves without being able to actually swim, I don't think anyone in their right mind would recommend it.
