We will be getting 12ft+ tomorrow and tuesday, it's been confirmed. I am not going into that, I'll be taking my video camara and filming some stuff from pro surfers around here, I'll post it up here tomorrow.

It had built to about head high here in Pensacola when I left the beach. Very bad westward shore current. It was fun, but after my first session, a thunderstorm blew in and the wind picked up. When it picked up my board and blew it down the beach, I figured it was time to come home.

I think I'll sit tomorrow out and go back out on Tuesday. I might go out to the pier and watch some of our local crazies, but it's going to be too big for me to feel comfortable tomorrow.

outer banks is forecast to get 11-12 foot on saturday, mixed reports on local winds. some say north, some say south-west. either way, you can go somewhere where it's offshore. surf was building today on the east facers, biggest we found today was just overhead, but mushy and kind of closing out. south facing beaches were glassy but doubling up annoying waist-chest, with one monster head+ wave that came through. probably won't go out in the huge stuff, i'll take my camera out and shoot some friends maybe. but once the leftovers are here i'll be out hopefully getting shacked

yeah thursday is supposed to be around 10-12 ft. in central fl with offshore winds...we'll see if it stays that way......hopefully it's a bit smaller, we don't get barrels too much here in fla and it would be nice.

So I went. The waves were not that big, at least not yet. But man... I have to say... the freaking currents where CRAZY! I honestly was not able to do anything as most of my time I spent it getting out of this huge ass rip current. I definitely need to bulk up. Hurricane swells are not for me yet. But I'm all good. :)

No surfing in Pensacola today. The Gulf is just a big washing machine. Hoping for better waves tomorrow.

Rips can be bad ass stuff.

One huuuuge (8-10ft and closing out = 16ft plus faces) day at my local beach break, I intended to paddle outish ..... go for a bit, have a browse, go out a bit more, suss it out and stuff, move out some more for a browse and so on when I found myself beyond outside !
Arrgh ! Sucked out by a rip !
Now I had to try to paddle back in to the shore without getting destroyed by these things. OMFG. this beach is considered one of the longest and hardest paddle-outs in the UK by all the top guys who go there.
No one said anything about it being the hardest paddle-in as well !
I was crapping it but made it back in okay.
SO BE CAREFULL OUT THERE GUYS AND GALS.

Glad you made it back too LucasG.

Pensacola was in a lot better shape today. Still windy and about waist high. We have several new sandbars now, and less beach than there was before Gustav passed by. It'll be interesting to see how the breaks have changed.

How can a paddle in be hard? Don't u just ride the white water and get back to the shore? I mean that's how I do all the time.

For paddle out, that's a different sotry.

Off-shore winds make paddling in hard.
