strandhill myate? know a couple of local longboarders that way that are more than fair... pretty good mates with one of the other locals.. says he'd never seen them before.
were they in a really old white camper by any chance?

definitely in a gunfight with a lettuce... normally bring a longboard for these kind of days, but recently found myself with a lot of time on my hands... so stopped bringing it so i could get better on the other board (turned out to be not such a bad move... came on loads)

gunfights are not the norm over here... that's not to say we're not capable of rising if it gets ugly.. just that having read about the trouble in other countries would prefer not to have it happen here... people over here generally go out of their way to be friendly and shun those who don't do the same.

really keen to do anything i can to preserve that... nothing wrong with a bit of competition... but no eye gouging or biting lol...

garbarrage wrote:very unusual over here... read about it happening more in other countries. usually pretty chilled. some of the more advanced breaks can get a bit competitive but usually nothing more than sharp comments and hassling.

have heard about it creeping in a little bit in recent months as surfing is taking off in a big way at the moment... can't wait for winter to cool things down a bit (no pun intended). gets rid of the fair weather surfers crowding the place up.

nice to see another insomaniac surfer danny. hard to sit on the peak on a shifty beach break... off the N59 sligo way if you know it, you'll know what i mean. will give it a go the next time though. still getting to grips with the new board... late take offs are proving a challenge... getting there quickly but was out there lookin to get in early... he was creaming some of the other guys out there... big lad on a log's pretty intimidating.

ya i know it, surfed it once or twice but generally stay away from beachies when im up the north west. the agro's always been here wouldnt be a normal days surfing down here if you didnt have some superstar dropping in, you just have to be vocal and aggressive(in terms of paddling for something) when theres an aggressive crowd. that being said it only takes one c*nt to ruin a line-up.

cheers danny, might be a bit easier when i have late take-offs nailed... definitely vocal when taking off... moreso lately as i've been delighted to finally step it up a gear on the short(er) board. where you from? haven't encountered this crap before.... been around a bit. know what you mean about the superstars... normally leave em to it if they are that good.

really recommend having another look at that beach if its not big enough for the reefs to start firing.... really nice right hander when its firing beside the rocks on the right... needs a fairly northerly swell to do it tho in the 5-6ft range.

I'll tell you the best thing to do if you get yourself into this predicament again, if the longboarder is going right and that's the way you intend to go, sit in a little bit from him when he takes off for the wave let him shoot by you turn around and paddle and you can the same wave just behind him, and if you catch up to him then he's in your way...lol
