I'm partial to O'neill for rash guards, neoprene tops, and wetsuits (although I hate wearing a wetsuit period). They make decent boardshorts according to my husband. I tend to avoid surf brands for clothing since they only come in junior sizes, but my husband wears a lot of Quicksilver. As for bathing suits, I only wear Honey Girl or Rip Curl. The tops have to tie at the neck and the back or might as well just surf naked since other styles/brands don't seem to stay on.

What i mean by chav, walk through land locked towns and everyone is wearing a brand name. Sorry but i have a thing about it .
Cskins for me too. Try as many on in your local shop that way you can tell which feels the best. As for boards for a newbie go long fat and wide.
I like my clothes with no logo, unless its for a good course.

Remember, allot of those companies sell skateboarding and snowboarding gear to, so that is a good reason for a landlocked dude to wear it. But I agree with you, since not all of those people skate either. Just don't judge a product by who wears it.

labels suck... end of story! they make all their gear in chinese sweat shops.. with slave labour then charge 100 bucks for a sweatshirt! makes my blood boil!
