I think it's a good idea for some people. Imagine you have a job where you're on call - the AA/RAC etc. have to sit there unable to go in the surf incase you get a call out. If you dont get a call out you're just sat there bored watching the waves peel along.

I personally wouldnt get one cos I dont need one.

as for the surfboard computer: http://gizmodo.com/archives/intels-tabl ... 016368.php

Dunno about surfing, but that sort of thing is great for snowboarding, I can take a phone, data card, and laptop to the mountains, get loads of riding done, and fully pretend that I'm at work, do it loads during winter.

.....you won't see me with it while I'm surfing....just pullin some leg round here. I did get that phone...not to surf with...solely to try to have a damn phone that would last more than 4 months...figured if it was military tested it might work for a day or two longer...maybe.

But it is out there, and I have given you a view of the hell it could create.

Soon you will no doubt beable to have full on yuppie meeting in the lineup

By my tone you can probably tell im not a fan of them - but to be fair they have some valuable uses.

same here.. cell phone never feels like it is used for the real purpose. (emergency and etc, not bunch of bs).

I know guys who have to take a phone in the surf, they are 'on call' and if they don't answer the call they'll lose their jobs. What would you rather do? Take a phone with you or stay on the beach? Spare a thought for those guys, if you see a guy in the surf with a phone I'm sure he has a good reason.

Since when was the mobile phone invented for emergences only?

Surely it was invented to do the same stuff as a landline......but mobile?

I only talk BS on my phone, similar to this site! :P

get a job that leaves you alone when you're not there.... people are too feckin reliable. takes all the fun out of life. we all have to put bread on the table but get a bleedin grip!! knew you were takin the p**s. as for those that have jobs where the cell phone surf combo is an absolute necessity, here's another necessary combo - bathtub hairdryer - problem solved.
viva busses that don't run on time, shops that open when they feel like it.
vive flexi time.
viva la difference. lets leave it all to the swiss. after all they are land locked and have an excuse.

i'd hate to have a cellphone in the water, i focus on surfing a lot, don't really care about other things while at it, if anyone needs to get in touch with me, they can wait till i get out of the water, i really hate it when you surf and have to be out by a certain time, it takes a bit of the fun away...
