I pinched lobsters out of the pots, and sold them to the local chinese restaurant. Grew a bit of weed too.

Yea, call me crazy but I actually enjoy waxing boards (although scraping 3 year old gunk with flies in it doesn't thrill me much.). Although it kills your arms.

I enjoy scraping off old wax and rewaxing the board as well. Its very therapeutic and relaxing work, and its a rewarding feeling when you get all of the old grungy wax off and see how nice you've made your board looks when cleaned off. I usually put new wax on my board once I unload it out of my vehicle prior to walking to the beach. The 1st time I rewax, I like to put a pattern on it...like criss cross or stripes etc to not only make it functional but make it appear nice. Rewaxing though after the 1st time after it wears and gets a little grungy....I just rub wax it all over like most people do for function only.

The only market I would see for this would be in a very wealthy or busy area (maybe So Cal or New York etc.) where yuppie surfers are too busy to spend any time stripping a board and are willing to pay. Very limited potential market....don't quit your day job to get into the "board waxing/stripping" business.

So who's board is that you're talking about then - seeing as you say you've only been surfing like 3 weeks or something??

Try and get the story straight and maybe you wouldn't get such a hard time...........

I worked McDonalds.. :D Boy, you don't even have to FLIP the burgers anymore.. Pull the top grill down onto the burgers, when the timer goes off and the grill lifts up, pull them off and stick them on the buns.

I had a cleaning job every day after school (best job ever - got paid to listen to my walkman (remember them?) and hoover offices, easy work) and a saturday job when I was 14. try the waxing thing - doesnt work out....move on to the next thing. People pay to have their shoes polished cos they cant be arsed to do them themselves. My car needs a good clean, it already has a weeks worth of breakfast toast crusts in the cup holder. I will pay £5 for a full vallet inside and out :)

Carp, leave it in the sun on a warm day, the wax will melt off on it's own, don't have to do squat to it. Your service going to include a pickle job on the board?

This thread got me thinking. You know how rock guitar musicians have a guitar tech that travels with them? Do any professional surfers have a waxing & board tech travel with them?

Haven't you read any of my posts, I want to wax someone elses boards for a little cash, I am 14 and overhere it is illegal for me to get a job, it is considered child labor, so I have to think of stuff for a few extra bucks, boards and wetsuits don't buy themselves, and I need all the money I can get.

Oh and btw, 3 weeks is inaccurate, 3 months is more accurate.

I have one, but it isn't enough, $35 per month won't get me a board (I need like $360 to get a board shaped, and even more to get one that is alredy made, plus I need a new wetsuit and a new skateboard, but the skateboard and wettie can wait for a while, I just want to make the wait a bit shorter, I mean if I wax 3 boards charging $14 including the wax I alredy halved the time I have to wait to get a new board, and I bet I will wax atleast 3-5 boards, and if people start to get to know me then it might spread, and the more it spreads the more money I make, I mean there is quite alot of surfers here, and if 5% lets me wax there boards then I will have enough money to buy 2 boards, plus I can wax tourists boards and tourist will pay for anything, mosselbay gets tourists from all over the place, I even talked to a few mexicans this december.)
