its different in water though, incase you get knocked out and drown, but if you've got an old suit and board then i'd use them

wear boots!! even if its not cold enough for them!! i made the mistake of not doing in summer and came out of the sea after a really good surf only to find i had a number of holes in my feet.

Also the best tip i can give is to try and foget its a reef or point or that youve got rocks underneath you or you might get psyched out n not surf very well.

well, that's only on the soft coral reef. At the hard one in Tobago, I put a hole in my sweeeeeeet board the other day:( so it's not all good when it comes to reefs. It is also so shallow at points that you cut your fingers on the coral paddling!
