Surf has dropped off now but I enjoyed messing around on small 1-2ft waves in Llangennith. You get a good practice on them. There was only about 4 others in the water too so it was awsome. The night sky looked lush, the moon was on one side with a blue sky in between and the sun was setting on the other side. Ive never studied the sky so much. It felt really peaceful being out there tonight.

Surfing is terribly addicting. I have been out nearly every day this summer, glad I decided not to get a job this summer now (even though I need the money :( ). Anyhoo it was only small today but I still love going out even if its a foot. I get miserable if I dont go out after a few days.

well i managed to get in today for a bit...

I bought a new board this morning for a friend, who gave me a seemingly impossible task of buying a minimal for under £100... I found a 7'4 for £90, so i took that in. It smells of mould and old sheds. It is a nasty board. It doesn't catch any waves without paddlin for Kernow, and it rocks from side to side and just feels old. I knew that I should have taken my board to the water... so that's just another day to add on to my 8 days of irritation...

Tried out my new board down Llangennith today. Waves were 2-3ft which was good considering Langland/Caswell was dead flat.

Quite a few surfers out, I still need to get to grips with the board though. It's suprising how much difference a change in board width can make to balancing when paddling out, etc.

Was sooo hot today, anyhow I managed to go for a surf all day on the other end of Llangennith, was only around 2ft but it was breaking lovely. Even had a few small wedges. Llangennith looked soo crowded, glad I didnt go there. It was dead quiet where I was. It was good to get in on such a hot day.

No surf here, but we i did get out for a later evening kitesurf on sunday night. Awesome bit of wind only me and a couple of other kiters out. Cruising round on my wave board managing to pull 30ft jumps off the flat water. All was going well till i wiped at speed landing on the hand that i broke last year (kitesurfing again). Hand has swollen up again and i think it maybe broken again, GRRRRR mucho painful. Still you can still kitesurf one handed so should be ok for when the wind returns later on this week.

I was at Gennith at 8am so it was dead, though by the time I left at 1 I had to push my way through the crowd! Didn't even realise how sunny it was.

8am?? - im more of an evening surfer lol

Anyhow , ye Gennith does get really crowded in summer, which is why I try surfing other places when its busy.
Todays surf was 1-2ft choppy , it started off rubbish but then picked up a little and got ok. It was fun surfing the small crappy waves though, they can be fun to mess around on when you arent surfing seriously.

NorthBank Lass : what new board have you got?

I am soooo excited!!!! Heading off to find that little swell on the East coast today between Sean finishing work at midday and me starting my shift this evening.

Lying on the living room floor practising my pop-up watching a surf trip to the Maldives on telly....adrenaline gouing through the roof in anticipation!

Can't wait to get out and give my new 'baby' minimal her first taste of the North Sea :D

hey guys.

i hit the same swell as ellie today. albeit at different spots. i went to south bay. it was big and windy but it was sort of the right direction to get some shape to the waves. i got one or two good rides and some comedy wipeouts! still gettinh used to my new board which flew today when it got going!!!

How was cayton Ellie? i heard the point was going off late on?

Not sure about the point - we were only there for a while due to badly-timed work shifts! - We were there 1.30ish-3.30ish and my prediction of 'well, it might be a bit messy with the cross/onshore' should have been 'OH MY GOODNESS, I nearly took off walking down the cliff path, and after 5 minutes in the sea I was halfway to Cromer!!!!!'

James - we should have gone with your local knowledge (rather than my wish for a hot shower before work!) and headed for South :D

Ahh, you live and learn!

(Note to self - check windspeed before travelling...2mph breeze in York = 25mph craziness in Scarborough!!)

Saying that, I got a couple of okay waves, definitely getting used to the balance of the new board. Oh, and had a comedy wipeout in about 6inches deep water...class.... (I maintain I was blown off-balance by a sudden gust of wind)
