Going out for a surf photo shoot the end of next week in Southern Maine. Pretty stoked, even though I am no pro surfer. Pics to come soon after!

I am looking for some feedback on some surf designs that I came up with and I think people are too afraid to critique... please I need feedback! I am a new business and who better to ask then the people I want to be my clients :) Check out my site and let me know what you think or what you would like to see!

well I looked at the jewelry it seems pretty innovative but I am so not into jewelry so don't have much more to say about it.

My latest outing was another set of SUP wave riding. I think I am getting better at it only because it's been pretty dismal for anything more than waist high waves for a while now. I used to call it FDP or "Fall Down Paddle" when I tried to catch waves on my SUP board but now it is becoming SUP waves riding. I feel sorry for my regular surfboard. It's just been sitting there gathering dust since I leave it behind while I go SUP or riding my wifes old board. (to my board) I am so sorry board, it isn't that I don't love you it just that there aren't waves worthy of you out there right now. We'll be together soon....I promise....
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Oh no, you are turning into 'one of those guys'

Over here, Australia, some call it being a '666er'

No worries I have a beginner soft top not made for riding waves. It is really a boat when I get it on to a wave. The only reason I am enjoying it is that the waves are knee high and it's still a bit of a challenge for me. I imagine I look like a beginner surfer with my stance really wide although a couple on the beach said I made it look easy....it's probably that I didn't fall down much which is because the waves are knee high. I am riding these waves and trying to turn and run the wave but ending up over a sand bar that has just an inch or two of water so I hop off the board after it bottoms out perhaps that helped to make it look like I knew what I was doing. Anyway it was fun but don't worry about me unless you hear me looking for a wave riding stand up board I'll only be doing SUP on small waves.

Aha...it's not often that I get to post in this thread, but here I am back again!
Yesterday me and the missus made our way down to the South Coast to East Wittering for a truly excellent few hours, in what turned out ot be some very good swell and bigger than predicted (don't you just love it when the predictions go the other way!)

This was a special one for both of us as it was the first chance we had to test out our new boards that we got each other at Christmas, yes, Christmas. It's been a long wait but DAMN if it wasn't worth it. My stick of choice is a 9'3" Beachbeat Longboard and boy is it good. It's light and manoeuvrable and catches waves like a dream. This better half didn't have such a great time as she chose to go shorter and struggled a bit with her 6'8" Surfbetty Funboard. We did swap over and I managed to catch one wave on hers whilst she caught wave after wave on mine.
It's gonna be a tough time for her and we both need to get our fitness levels back up to scratch, but the season is back upon us and we are off again in a few weeks for some Cornish waves at Easter and the Isle of Wight in late May.

Feeling hugely stoked and ready to get back on that beautiful board.

I used to go there a lot when I lived in London. Every now and then it has some great waves and it sounds like you caught one of its good days - what a day for a new board :claps:

FINALLY! Some over head waves. Man that has been a long time. So glad to have some challenging waves. Nothing special but the usual was good enough. It was windy and cold and I had to use a wet suit....just kidding, no wet suit needed.

I had a good surf session yesterday. Got pounded by the surf multiple times but stuck it out and caught a double overhead wave where the drop was completely vertical. It was almost an air drop but because I had turned to board sideways with my ankles the rail still was touching the water a little. Massive high speed bottom turn but then the wave kind of died off and I was cruising along. I had a few other waves overhead sized but nothing exceptional. I was so tired but happy when I came in. Going to the beach soon for another session.

Went back out but the waves were a little smaller and less consistent and the current was stronger. I had a hard time staying lined up. Caught a few waves but decided to come inside and ride some smaller waves closer to the shore that I noticed prior to paddling out. I caught a nice wave and did a couple turns and then fell on a cutback. I was too tired from yesterday to paddle back out through the shore break so I went in. Good day though, every day surfing is a good day

Had a good little sesh on Saturday down in Llangenith near me. Only about 2ft max but was glassy and seemed to roll in for ages. Easy to catch and get a long ride out of. After a stressful week, was a perfect day!

A Fatal Day .
Things are weird down here, a fatal shark attack ,next surf beach up from here, grey rainy days and all the elements that are supposed to be shark attack conditions in play. Thankfully no surf just a flat and oily languid swell under a matching sky.
Small town community that knows everybody is flat and grey too.
The lady is gone, her husband spoke elegantly about her love of life and held a brave stance knowing she died doing her much loved ocean swim.
Brave and in pain but clearly a man who could voice what he felt. He too was in that swim.
At times like this I see the qualities that people can rise to!

Jaffa, must be a bit of a shock for everyone down that area. The tragedy is obvious but its go to resonate with everyone who goes in the water, which has to be most of the population. Hasnt been an attack south of Sydney for who knows how long - years and years. To think its now a possibility has to be very unsettling, on top of the emotions from the event itself.

Yeah, thanks everyone is pretty freaked, the water after all,the rain is coffee coloured and murky, still raining and overcast, lots of big fish movement chasing big schools of baitfish!!!! Not encouraging many takers at the moment.

The lady's swim crowd did the usual swim as a get back on the bicycle thing.
Tuesday looks the day for my next surf! :D

Sunday morning and out at my local. Conditions forecast to be very nice (as it happens, they were merely 'okay') and so the whole world turned up... pro surfers, learners, tourists, swimmers, bodyboarders, jet skis, fishing boats, canoes, dragon boats, SUPs, SUPs and more SUPs, and even one of those wooden surfboard/waveski things. It was all a bit chaotic. But...

...before I got in the water, I overheard a local, an old guy who has been surfing here for 60-odd years, complaining about how they turn up to our break, they take our waves, they get in the way when we're surfing, they make it crowded.

I never want to be that man

Good grief, you've surfed at one of the Gold Coast's most popular spots all your life, and you turn up on a sunday morning and expect it to be quiet? You've surfed here your whole life and other people are the crowd? Well, maybe it's their turn for a wave.

I paddled off along the beachbreak to an arguably less good wave, and caught loads with three other surfers. Crowds? Get over it. 8)
You'll probably find me surfing, but if not, I'll probably be in the photography studio

I went surfing yesterday and had fun in small waves trying to squeeze myself into some tubes. Missed the surf today because I had to get up early and cook breakfast for about 1000 people (fundraiser). too tired now....see I really am an old man :)

Jaffa, 8-10ft down your way for the weekend, and up to 15ft just a bit north.

I expect to see some great photos of you carving come Monday...
