Rashguard keeps bunching up under wetsuit

Postby carbuf6727 » Thu Nov 08, 2007 2:04 am

how do I solve this problem? There is a loop at the bottom front, but idk what or how to use it? Any advice? Also, anyone know of gloves that will fit under my wetsuit instead of over it?

The loop on the rash vest is there so that the drawstring on your board shorts or trunks can tie through it to stop it riding up.

Why wear a rash guard under a wet suite? Not trying to be a smart @ss either.

I wear them as it keeps me warmer here in the northwest of ireland. Don't have a problem with it bunching as long as its a tight fitting vest. Doesn't solve problem of wettie rash on my neck though...really need to find a solution for that.

For the rash on the neck try placing some vasiline or Petro jelly on it before you go out. It acts as a lubricant.

some lubricants arent good for the suit. Could try baby powder? Yea I thought that was what the loop was for but how in the world do u tie it with your boardshorts?

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking....put your wetsuit on, then roll the sleeves back slightly, put your gloves on and roll your sleeves back over the gloves.

.....I must have got what you were asking wrong......please tell me I got it wrong......you didn't really just need those instructions.... either that or you've got some ridiculously large gloves. :?

well the gloves I have are large enough to have zippers. They dont fit under my wetsuit. they are more diving gloves i guess. That could be why

baffled as to why you are wearing a rash vest under a wet suit ! If you can wear anything thing under your wetti its far to big for you ! .As to neck rash that happens if you have hairs on your neck that are being pulled ! shave them off and again it can be caused by an ill fitting wet suit .

Are you sure your wetsuit is too small..most people are able to fit rashguards under them regardless of size. It's all a matter of choice really.

Wet suits should fit you well otherwise they are not going to form a thin layer of warm water and retain it. Instead you will get flushed through , collect masses of water in your legs and in general defeat the purpose of wearing one.

Rash vests were originally designed as their name suggests to prevent wet suit rash caused by chaffing and are meant to be worn underneath your wetsuit. Long necked rash vests will prevent neck rash and all prevent under arm rash. Petroleum jelly is not good for your rubber wetsuit as the chemicals (namely petrol) in it will eat away at the chemical bonds in the wetsuits structure causing it to deteriate rapidly.
I have no problems wearing a rash vest under my wetsuit and there is no way i'd be able to fit in a wet suit the next size down as my suit fits perfectly as do my rash vests.

I keep getting asked this too. A bit like what does a Scotsman wear under his kilt? My own preference is on old T shirt preferably cotton as this adds an extra layer and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL prevents nipple rash!!! To stop it riding up I tuck it into ....................................................................................................................................................................................................................... my pants! As this stops my marbles getting mashed when lying on the board.

Works for me, so happy to share! Sorry if "too much info" for some!

This rash guard thing must be for you cold water surfers. From what I have seen nobody down here seems to wear rash guards / t shirts under the wetsuits
