New Board

Postby derbyshire surfer » Mon Feb 19, 2007 6:06 am

Hi,

I just got my first custom board shaped by Bill Attlee at Escape surfboards in Rock, Cornwall. It's a 7'6 Flying Carpet 22.75" wide, 3" thick, 18" nose, and 15" tail. Really is a piece of cake to get on with, just so much lighter than the NSP I'd been surfing.

Bill was SO helpful, and I'd recommend anyone to get a board from him!

I know what you mean about NSP! They are a bit on the heavy side, but they are made of epoxy and come out of a mould! mass produced in other words! :P

Yeah, it does indeed look like it's a lot of fun, and I'm looking forward to the time I can justify getting a custom board. but...

Hi Adrenaline Fueled

I had to go to Scarborough the following day to surf in the snow after being spoiled with the 'mild' cornish February weather!

Also my mate just told me the 'chippie' was shut :x I guess that's why I wasn't smiling so much lol!

Looks like a nice board. Nothing like a new board to get you motivated to get out there more.

I hope it stays red and doesn't turn pink.

Don't think it'll turn pink too soon because of the (lack of) sun where I normally surf...more likely to turn blue from the cold lol!

Ohh the black would hold the wax well. I can see it now on a hot day bringing it from the car to the beach dripping like a candle

...Lost makes a black carbon fiber board, and a guy who rides one around here said he's got no problems with it.
I've also seen Rasta ride a black fish in a movie (Blue Horizon maybe?).

Mmmmm, pretty boardd.....

I've heard many discussions on swaylocks about people pigmenting their resin white with CF, because not only will it be hot as hell, it will also explode/delam if it gets too hot.
