He's wearing a 5mm suit!!!!

And he seems to be able to paddle and balance alright - at least on his board

last time i wore my 5x3 was in may cos it was rocky and i wanted to wear my boots, and it was WAAY to hot, not just restrictive but hot and uncomfortable, why wear more rubber than you need? (unless your into that sort of thing  )

best wetsuit i ever had was a sola fleece lined semi-drysuit, used to sweat inside that even in winter.

I wear a 5/4/3mm w/hood when it's 50°F (10°C) or less. Otherwise it's a 3/2mm 'till it's warm enough for shorts.

I don't mind boots so much. Yeah, I like to feel the board under my feet, but I don't think the boots adversely affect my surfing.

I don't like gloves at all, but they are necessary for winter surf here. They just seem to get so heavy sometimes and tire your arms out quicker.

Hoods suck too. They restrict head movement and make my neck sore quicker. I guess they can throw off you balance some too, because they dampen a lot of the outside noise (disturbs your equilibrium somewhat).

I realized how heavy the 5/3 was after surfing my first winter and then switching to the 3/2. The 3/2 almost felt like nothing.

I feel that wetsuits definitely make paddling harder, but they do keep improving on the stretch/flexibility of the material.

I think most of the negatives affect my paddling more than my actual surfing.
