alright, I looked it up. there are 14 islands, only one is formally named as Cedar Island. the others are completely inhabited. its just south of Accomac on the eastern shore. kinda looks like it is directly across from our house on the west shore of the bay. 30 minute boat ride, with a 5-10 mile skate to the ocean, thats more than do-able.

man I cant wait till I get down there again!

no, its not outta your ability at all. the 30 minute boat ride and 5-10 mile skate was for me to get from my river house to the beach by boat.

its bascially like the rest of the east coast wave-wise I've been told. I think you drive up to Cedar Island and paddle off of there, but all of the islands are pretty close I think. I'll go check it out, probably in march or early april when we start heading back down there.

i talked to some people down here and they said they catch a boat at wachpreague out to the island and that its about a 15 minute ride...but the drive from here to wachpreague is about 6 hours...ugh. i also got told its slightly better surf being that its a barrier beach compared to the rest of the coast...is that info about right? and where the heck is wachpreague?

Was just curious if you've gotten a chance to surf Cedar or not? Been reading the thread and definitely interested in checking it out if it's worth it (I'm in Richmond so it's only about an extra hour and a half more than what you have).

Nah, I still haven't. I know someone with a house very close to the Cedar Islands, and I think I've talked him into a camping trip sometime in August.

I'm in Richmond, too.
