Waves?

What type of waves do you look for when you are starting out on a surfboard/shortboard? Any info would help...

starting..hmm.

Something small that your comfortable with. Maybe around waist high, and not steep. A wave that crumbles.

Also make sure it is a sandy bottom

I reckon go for waves with as much power as you can handle.

You need waves with a bit of ... what's the technical word???... oomph.. to get going on a shortboard/surfboard.

It's easier on your pop up if the face of the wave is a bit steeper, or if the wave is a bit greener (know wha I mean?).. playing around in the whitetrash waves can be fun, but when it starts getting lame, move out to the bigger ones.
