Llangennith is the most consistent spot in the gower. It could be alright for monday, should be worth the trip. As for Langland I think that will be flat for a long time, usually is through the summer. Langland is more of a locals beach though isnt it? Ive only surfed there a few times and had no problems but have heard bad stories. I usually go to Caswell when im in mumbles.

It looks like from tomorrow onwards it will be picking up again, so there should be some small waves which are surfable. :D
I am ill at the moment so im not sure when im going to go surfing next. Was hoping tomorrow but cant see that happening now.

I'd avoid surfing reef breaks if you are a beginner just for your own safety because you will be falling a lot. Its better to go to surf safe beginner beaches. Llangennith looks alright from tomorrow until tuesday. Caswell is a great beginner beach which could have some small waves in the next few days.

mikey,

gonna be pretty small so use the pushing tide and surf either very early in the morning (like 4-5am) or mid - late afternoon for the best chance of a ridable wave.

And stay off the reefs, not for beginners :?

did you get down there today? it was classic. If the swell keeps building langers could be on for tomorrow.

As for the reefs, the obvious one is crab island (you should know where that is already) or the sandbar at langland, but i wouldnt recommend either if your not confident in both your ability to paddle out of trouble and to consistantly make critical drop ins.
Theres some reefs at caswell which arent so full on, as for the gower reefs, better to stay away till your more experienced, they all break on sharp rocks and are all a long way from help if things go wrong. On a smaller day mewslade reef can be fun, but be aware as it gets bigger it gets very gnarly. Get to know some of the local guys who know where to go and when your good enough they might show you some of them, but learn how to do to board repairs first, and consider buying a helmet.

it was good, the shorebreak was reaaaaly heavy, lots of people getting washed about there but only a handfull getting past it to the nice peeling glass outside. Big but not to heavy outside so lots of fun ripping the faces up without any nasty wipeouts as long as you stayed outside of that closing out shorebreak.

I heard that someone lost their board in llangennith yesterday. Heard he tried swimming out to sea to find it but the current was too srong and he had to be airlifted for help.
Crazy surfers risking their lives for their surfboards.... saying that id want to find my board if I lost it lol but wouldnt swim out that far

I doubt it, the sandbar is much further out than you would be able to (safely) swim to, you probably hit the rocks in the middle of the bay in front of the lifeguard hut? thats the break people are referring to when they talk about "langland" usually.

im not the wisest of swimmers i swim out further than the cliffs on the sides of the bay somtimes. i wasnt quite that far out when i hit it but i wasnt that far away from leavign the bay.
as of yet i have only gotten into a bit of dificulty when swimming in madiera where teh current was alot stronger than i had estimated.
