I would not recommend buying a second hand surfboard without seeing it first and giving it a good going over. Take a look at
www.surfing-waves.com/surfboard_buying_guide.htm for some second hand board buying tips to help you choose.
I think britsurf.org has second hand stuff posted on their forum.

yeah thats probably a very valid point, but on the plus side ive seen a 7'9" bic minimal on zumajay new for £219. its not too pricy so i might be able to get it if its here after my birthday, christmas and hopefully finding a bank account i didnt know about. also and probably more importantly itd suit me as an enthusiastic beginner who can unfortunately only get to the surf a few times a year
hope i come into money soon

i would definitly say its not a good idea buying a second hand custom board unless you know what your doing, and if you do, only look at it if the wax isnt on it as i bought a board once, took the wax of and there was a nasty crack ding on the deck, really pissed me off! but its ok i think to by a seconhand bic there like a rock, ive seen a 7.9 natural surf for £170 think it was on a1surf.com not sure though. just keep an eye out and dont rush your buy!! could ask a surf shop if they wanna sell one of there rentel boards, only a bic one though i would advise, there probably sell them cheap if there gonna sell it.

yep, if you go to surf hire places and see if they have any old ones to sell, thats how i got mine, 9' bic for £200 with a leash and stuff. and before that, same tactic, i got a 7'3" bic for £120. good luck
