i could have sworn i just responded to this.... o well to lazy to look for it...
its possible yes but i suggest renting a soft top to have you cuz get the hang of standing up for a day or two on it.... then switching to short.

scoot up far on your board when paddling for a wave..... try REALLY REALLY hard..... & eventually u will get a few rides comin together nice!! If not just go a lil bigger. Talk to shapers too. They'll tell u what u need by lookin @ u And listening

it has to go down the face to allow him to get up. He'll have maybe .4 seconds to get to his feet that's that. That's how shorties work. If you "pearl" then u are alot closer to catching a wave as oposed to sliding off the back

I would say get a bit further forward on the board than you think you ought to be. If you find you're not catching any waves, then you may need to move a bit further forward. Try to paddle smoothly but powerfully, and most of all, enjoy whatever stage you're at! This is one of the best sports in the world (apart from windsurfing*my personal opinion*) Just get out there, do the thing and have fun doing it. If you're not having fun, come in, take a rest, and go back when you feel a bit better!

Man I´m starting on a shortie too. 6.3. I only went in 4 times, and the first three were really easy, but this last one really bothered me.

The first time I tried to ride a wave was pretty bad, I fell to my face and the board hitted me in the head lol.

But just keep trying, I know I will.

i just dont feel the same way, once im at my natural spot on the board it all comes down to my paddlin for a wave...if i dont get it its usually because i just didnt try hard enough.
