..alone or with friends .. its all good but if your on your own and a begginer like me then at least do yourself a favour and learn about tides , rips etc of the beaches your gonna surf ..so your skills might not be too impressive but at least your survival will be !! :D

Hi CCsurfer I come to your post to visit  I usually surf by myself .. but last summer I went with a couple of friends and I almost lost my head ... this guys were pretty competitive, which is funny because is not like we are in a contest or riding big big waves, I guess is safer to go alone

Ha yea I guess so. Sometimes its MORE dangerous to surf with others if they are not to experienced. I enjoy surfing by myself. No line-up I get what wave I want and really surfing with others breaks my concentration.

i rekon just the trip itself to the beach by yourself can be relaxing so by the time you get to the water its unreal to get out and do your own thing..the only disadvantage is that when do something cool you dont really have anyone to share it with

Yeah, the past 5 trips ive had to do all the driving, it gets old pretty quick. And normally im driving at 1 in the morning so i end up spending alot on energy drinks and powerbars.

Thats familiar - I do a whole trip in the van spending almost nothing but fuel costs... and then afterwards realise Ive spent a week's wages on caffeine drinks and sugar bars from service stations

surfing alone

Postby bgdkmetzger2003 » Sun Dec 11, 2005 8:32 am

I hate surfing alone. If I go alone I always try and chat with the guys in the lineup. Sad thing is there are a lot of A-holes out there that think they are too good to say what's up. Its really weird. Im an ok surfer but I like to make friends out their and talk to people. I wonder why people take themselves so seriously.

I surf alone a lot of the time but most times I go there are a few other surfers in the water.

Anyone see Riding Giants? That surfer who was surfing Mavericks on his own for 15 years!!!
