Teach Them Young!

Kai 22 months goes surfing with dad in Hawaii. This is beautiful and soothing. It may be the foundation for a future world champion, too.

Perfect conditions for having fun!
I admire Dad for building a high level of trust with his son.

My grandson is still learning to swim but loved riding a body board on my back.

BoMan, this Spring, put a life vest in Remi and take him out on a longboard! Wish I could help with this.

Sometimes I meet surfer friends on the beach here in Japan that I haven't seen in a long time that now have children. I ask them how come they aren't surfing with them. More than a few said their kids got traumatized their first time out and won't go in the surf ever again.

Of course, they probably pushed them into the shore break on their short boards, and the kids buried their face in the sand and drank a lot of sea water.

They don't have the culture of tandem riding in Japan that I've ever seen.
