I moved to Venice about 18 months ago. I surf the Venice breakwater daily. There is definitely etiquette among those that surf there regularly. Problems seem to arise when the outgoing tide lumps everyone together between the rips and compresses the takeoff zone. The other problem is the amount of travelling surfers that come through the area, especially right now with the water in the 70s... I rarely hit Malibu, the wait times for a ride can be maddening!

My friend has another name for Malibu, which pretty well sums it up.....he calls it "Domino Beach".
