Surfing at Croyde?

hey i think a few of u guys surf at croyde and saunton....?

I usually surf at peranporth but cant be arsed to drive all the way this time so was thinking about croyde or saunton in october time?
what are the crowds like at that time of year??

I have surfed quite alot before but im going with a friend that hasnt,
Does anyone have any advice on the two?
Like are there any currents i should watch out for etc?

Saunton and Croyde are VERY different breaks!! :shock:

Saunton is a very learner-friendly, mellow break, popular with long boarders 8)

Croyde is a much faster, heavier, steeper break :o
I should know, I got the cr@p beaten out of me there this weekend! Damn those sneaker sets...

Croyde can also get crowded almost any time of year (at least at the weekends) while saunton is a huge beach so you can normally find some room.

If you're taking a learner, then go with saunton :D

Also, round the corner is Putsborough - that gets a bit more shelter from the south westerly winds and can be clean when everywhere else is blown out.
