I'm pretty sure local coaches pushing their students on softboards into drop-ins, doesn't help in general respect for proper etiquette..

I had a great sesh today where we had a very ordered lineup... no kooks, no drop-ins. Lots of pull-outs for the riders. Having enough waves to go around helped as well as not having surf schools or raw beginners, but showing respect for each others sure made things more fun for everyone.

The most important thing on this topic in my opinion is to know women are out there for the same reasons men are. The ocean doesn't care if you're male or female and no one in the line up should make a thing of it either. Unfortunately sometimes there are gender specific experiences good and bad...women get the unsolicited advice (though I personally never really mind getting tips; if they're useful it's great if not I just ignore them) or like what happened yesterday as I was changing and loading my boards roadside, an older dude catcalled, but I also get a lot more leeway in the water so it's whatever. I say for men and women, focus on yourself, the ocean, your surfing and being chill and non invasive to others and the stoke will be upon us all
