It's a shark bite story from Kauai at Davisons beach on the opposite side of the island from me. I think it was the same place the last shark attack occurred about a year ago. Took a huge chunk out of the board. The surfer got bit on the hand but still has everything intact including his life. You would think sharks would learn that boards aren't good eating.

well, maybe I can relate. when I crashed my carbon fiber road bike and shattered my clavicle in 2012, my first question was "how's the bike?".... even my ex husband's question (also an avid cyclist) - "is the bike okay?"

A friend at my school wrote a heartfelt Facebook post about the Napa Valley fires. I couldn't agree more!

What the last week has taught me...

Don’t take anything for granted.
Laundry, mowing the lawn, vacuuming, any chores, I’m happy I get to do them.
How excited I will be to see clear skies without fear of wind.
Or go outside without hearing helicopters or sirens.
Not that I didn’t know before, but firefighters and police officers are amazing!
That people are generally good and come through for each other in times of disaster.
Overall just how lucky I am. I have a house that is standing, my pets, family, and friends are safe. Others have not been nearly as lucky as I have been.
Hoping to move forward from this and realize it’s all about relationships and the impact you make in this crazy world. Go out and make a strong one!

I take it you are doing ok BoMan? Just realized this is happening in your area. In my old age I look at everything as a bonus. I already got more out of life than I expected so it's all a bonus

We are fine!

At one point the fire burned on three sides of us leaving South as the only escape route. 3,500 fire fighters kept it from reaching the valley floor and we only had to deal with a power outage and smoke. While all this was going on my first grandson decided to come into the world.
