I'm still alive

Postby icetime » Sun Oct 01, 2017 9:25 pm

Hey guys, I vanished for a while.
I moved away from Morocco to Phoenix Arizona, now I'm a land locked surfer, been just doing lots of swimming competitively to keep my paddle fitness, I plan to do some trips to San Diego when I have the money.
I only brought my wetsuit so I'm probably going to buy me a modern retro fish and travel to SoCal for a few trips this year.
I miss surfing, I stopped posting here because I normally post after my surf sessions.

Well then there's still hope for you if you visit the Arizona wave pool.

It's Zach, there is a wavepool but it's like 2-3ft waves with no sections plus they closed in september, they're only open during summer.

Phoenix? Word of advice . . . get the hell out of there. There truly is no there there. If you have to live in AZ, then at least move to Tucson. It actually has some redeemable qualities. I think the artist who captured the essence of Phoenix best was Alfred Hitchcock. He used the city as a setting in the very beginning of Psycho. I think he knew he had tapped into something that was frightening about the place. Anyway, you don't want to live in places that embrace guys like Joe Arpaio and neither do your kids. Trust me. Since Halloween is around the corner, here's another scene that kind of captures the zeitgeist of Phoenix.

I am glad to hear you are at least alive. I often wonder what happened to forum members who quit posting. I always hope they are too busy riding waves but sadly not in your case
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

You could try bungee river surfing. Take offs look glitchy but the rides could be fun. :D

I couldn't agree more. People should avoid CA like the plague. Arizona is much nicer and cheaper. "I wish they all could be Arizona girls" kinda rolls off the tongue too.

I can totally live with less people both in the lineup and the freeway. Yeah, CA is awful!!!

Anyway, welcome to US, Iceman. Phoenix has pretty high crime rate including the violent type, so be careful. But it's only 5-6 hours drive from San Diego so you can get a clunker and sleep in a car for your long weekend surf if you can swing it. And if you have a driver's license here. There's always the Greyhound Bus at around $40 one way.
