Two tails, one board

I know we've all talked about the idea of
Multiple tails on a single surfboard to get the best of all worlds but check this out..

It comes standard as a squash tail with a clip on diamond attachment that you screw on. The feedback is that it actually makes a big difference between making the board either more loose or trackier with the diamond,
Naturally, sups are leading the market
But seriously, it's a cool concept and seems to be working.
I wonder if it will catch on for surfboards?

There have been a number of versions of short and long boards with several noses and tail click together systems,
How well they work and difference, I don't really know???

I don't think adding an inch or so is going to make much difference. Maybe if they an do a swallow tail to a diamond tail or a round tail to a pin tail conversion that might be more likely to make a difference in how the board performs. Maybe they can make the whole tail section come off then they can alter the bottom contour and fin placement which will have more effect on performance.

The realtime reviews claim it makes quite a difference. Read the blurb from starboard below.
At worst, even if Its remotely functional it's a cool addition to have. Would help for when it's heaving or more mushy

This is what I expected when I read the title....

It's advertising. I am skeptical of it. In my opinion such minor differences only result in minor changes. Perhaps if you are a top surfer and can push the board to it's limits then you might notice the difference but for most surfers it's all in your mind. If you believe you can (or can't) do something with a board that is half the requirement (to doing it or not doing it). And my guess is top surfers are going to want to change the whole board and not just an inch on the tail. So as far as I am concerned it's just marketing.. But once again if they can do more than an inch then that might make some difference. The two ended board above is more likely to have a more noticeable difference in the way it handles because there is a larger difference in the area on the tail (and maybe also contour).
