Don't talk to us. Talk to your crew in the shop, the surfers on the beach.

Here, North Oregon Coast -- it's a long board unless you're a freekin' surf guru.

9'4" or thereabouts is the standard board. High volume, wide.

But the waves are 5' nominal. On a good day.

I got a Modern, 9'4" wide and fat. For learning. I think it's an epoxy. For sure a pop-out from Thailand.

Down the road, when I know what I want . . . I'll get one.

For now just grab what the shop says you should learn on, and expect that you'll grow out of it and figure out what you need later.

It's not like you're choosing a wife. You can find another board later.

I do like to support my local shops, but I was extremely dissapointed in my experience with them. One of the people told me completely false information, just to try to get me to buy one of the boards that was in stock. I'm all for supporting my local shop, but it kills me when they're all about getting a purchase from you.
