American surfer loses his leg but survives vicious crocodile attack at popular Costa Rican beach
- Friend fought crock with his bare hands
- 59-year old American surfer from Colorado named by local media as John Becker
- "It was a vicious attack, and he was bitten several times in the leg as well as the head," said a witness
- Dramatic pictures show the moment Becker crawled to shore before collapsing flat on his back on the sand
- Local media reported Becker was taken to a nearby hospital and had to have part of his right leg amputated

If memory serves,Tamarindo is where Robert August lives and was one of the locations featured in "The Endless Summer II."

So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
