surf photographers

Just wondering if any have you have run into or over a surf photographer. Long ago when I was just starting to get good at surfing there was a surf photographer who hung out and took pictures of the guys I surfed with. I think the only time he might have taken my picture I ran him over. He was also a justice of the peace and an washing machine repair guy but started dabbling in surf photography. I guess at first from the shore and then in the water. Some of the surfers I knew had pictures taken by him. But I didn't really know him just sort of cause we lived in the same tight knit community and I went to the same school as him. Anyway I was on this wave at Horners and it was starting to tube and he was in front of me right in my way and there was no room to miss him so I kept going instead of wiping out and may have run him over. I fell off my board right where he was but it may have been because I was worried about running him over. I didn't talk to him but if he was quick he might have a shot of me in the tube. I didn't want to find out if I ran him over LOL. I just told myself that photographers are supposed to get out of the way and paddled back out. I knew this from articles in surfer magazine. I told one surfer friend about it and he said "Good!" Apparently he had tried to run him over intentionally. I told another friend and he said someone did run him over and he quit doing in water photography because of that. All these years later and I don't know if it was me or not. The reason I am thinking about this is his name came up in conversation today because he helped a friend fix his freezer.
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

It's always a photographer/videographers' dilemma. They wanna get as close to you as possible because it will make a better shot. But they usually also know that they should not interfere with your surfing. Also accidents always happen while filming sports so I wouldn't worry too much about it

A high visibility helmet ie orange Gath helps prevent some hits. Often between a good surfer and a good shooter there is an understanding of where and what going to happen . Shooting distances can be reduced by knowing the wave and what can done on it!

The better a surfer the shooter help too!

Run a mile from a nose installed GoPro on a BIC rider and selfie shooter!
