Tati's perfect ten....or is it?

Postby oldmansurfer » Fri Oct 09, 2015 7:46 pm

In the Roxy pro France Tatiana Weston-Web (from Kauai) scored this awesome barrel and was awarded 10 points for it. Immediately people started complaining that it wasn't deserving of a 10. What do you all think? I guess the question is should the women be held to the same standards as men? I say no. They are a seperate sport just like most sports there are men and women and they don't directly compete or even have the same rules. I think it would be interesting to have coed surfing but that would mean lots of the current surfers on both sides wouldn't be able to compete and I like watching the events the way they are. So I say she deserves a 10 for having the best barrel in competiton on the womens side this year so far and then slammiing the lip as a finishing move. http://www.worldsurfleague.com/posts/150629/tatiana-weston-webb-perfect-10-roxy-pro-france
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

That is what I thought when I saw it too but judges were more impressed maybe for the finishing maneuver? Anyway if you compare it to mens it wasn't but then the swell is decreasing and that was a big wave for the heat. They are supposed to judge it heat by heat with the waves that are available for that heat and not carry forward the same scale from previous heats. Who knows? One judge gave it a 9.8 but the rest 10.
