Unmarked board?

Postby Ilwa » Sun Aug 10, 2014 6:52 pm

Hi,

I'm new to surfing, and wanted to progress from rented soft boards so I bought a board on ebay. What I thought were the names of the shapers turned out to be just stickers, and there doesn't seem to be any real markings on the board. Just the measurements and a number E02-2877. How do I go about finding out about the board? Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Can you put up a photo?

There are factories in Asia (China, Thailand etc) that pump out blank boards ('pop out' boards) which are then shipped off to stores or distributors, who put on their stickers (over the glassing rather than under like hand made boards). Doesnt make the board bad, just means it was probably made this way. As a first board its unlikely to make a huge difference so long as the boards dimensions (length, width etc) are suitable for a beginner.

Sure you take a chance on quality control and so forth, but thats a trade off for what I presume was a fairly cheap board. And just because a board was hand made doesnt necessarily make it a good board either. These kind of boards are fine for beginners.

I wouldnt worry too much about it.
