Epoxy vent plug?

Postby IB_Surfer » Sun Jan 12, 2014 5:22 am

So most of my shortboards are epoxy, just like the extra float. Not the molded epoxy from tuflite or bic, cust made boards out of epoxy core.

I was talking to a local shop owner and let him know I am headed to Nicaragaua and what boards I should take, he said that if I plan to take an epoxy board on a plane I should have a vent plug installed because they expand in flight? Has anyone heard this before? He says the vent plug will keep the board from warping in high altitudes.

I've heard of this myth too, but I talked to nsp which makes the pop outs and they said it should be fine...so I have no idea. I guess you're never really gonna know until it goes lol.

I know a dude who had an 1800$ Carbon fiber board. Took it with him on a flight. Forgot to pull the plug. When he landed he had a pontoon. And there's no fixing that.
