How Heavy is a Big Wave?

Yeah that's interesting I am not sure what those numbers mean to a surfer but I have never heard anyone try to quantitate the weight of a big wave before. Heavy stuff :)
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
