Beginner seeking sensei!

Postby Riddle » Sat Feb 08, 2014 10:45 pm

Keen to get into surfing more regularly - are there any other beginners who wanna 'buddy up'/ surfers who wanna be my sensei!?? I live in the west mid's most the year round which isn't ideal but google suggests Barmouth, which is the closest spot, is okay - can anyone confirm? Need somewhere to rent a board which isn't a massive detour too. Heading there tomo to take a look, don't know how sensible it is given the weather..

Just thought it'd be good to find someone who will happily splash around in the sea all day in all weather incase I drown so someone can tell Mum..

Any advice appreciated!

Bummer there has been no response. I am used to surfing alone but it isn't advised for beginners especially. My wife is with me half the time I go surfing so she can call the surf rescue team to find my dead body after I drown :) The other half the time if I don't come back home at a reasonable time she will call to find out why and if no response go check it out and call the surf rescue guys to find my dead body. I surf on a schedule so whoever is there is there and if not then not. I am still not good enough to feel comfortable in a crowd so I enjoy my solo surfing. But if you were on Kauai instead and wanted to surf when I had time at the beach I would be happy to help during that short period of time
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Where abouts in west mids are you? I'm Hereford based apart from uni. Its my intention to head to south/west wales over the summer if thats any use at all. I'm only a beginner too but happy to spot for you if we are at same beach same time.
