mmmm... i don't think i could really get into that. maybe a bit of weight training, but not like that!!! maybe get a few little dumbells thingys tho?

im guessing when swimming, frontcrawl is the stroke to use? i was surfin on wednesday and the paddle out totally knackered me so anything to help that would be great :)

you should have training evry times you can,at least twice a week!running and swimming followed by a bit of stretching are the best training for the surfer, obviously after surfing itself

Lots of people preach about the benefits of Yoga/Pilates for surfing. I can see where they're coming from because flexibility and durability of muscles is what's important.

I haven't tried it myself though. I saw a book about Yoga for Surfers on the web somewhere too.

Swimming front crawl is definitely a good exercise. You may find that just a little bit of stretching to warm the muscles through before paddling out will help. Going into any exercise cold is going to result in fatigue early and can result in injury. I don't think enough surfers stretch before hitting the water.

The best exercise for paddling is.... paddling! When it's flat, just take the board out for a paddle! People may look at you funny when you're heading down the beach on a flat day, but as soon as they realise what you're doing, they'll give you respect.

Cheers

hey sinista, i agree it'd be best to paddle for paddling practise, but seeing as i don't actually live near the beach, it's probably not the best idea to nag my dad into giving me a lift to the sea when it's flat just for me to practise, lol, i'l save all my persuasive powers for when it's pumping!!!
