Greco 2.0 or CBC 84 7F

Postby Panagispagou » Sun Mar 23, 2014 12:02 pm

Hi,
Can someone help me out? I am between choosing a Greco 2.0 8ft or a CBC 84 7ft. I am a beginner, 1,78 cm tall 85 kg weight.
Thanx for the help

As a beginner at your weight, definitely the 8ft board. A 7ft board is too short.

You will be better off in the long run with a second hand 'proper' (not soft) longboard. You dont need to learn on a softboard - they are good if its crowded (like a surf class) but if you are out on your own at a normal beach where you can get a bit of space to yourself, there is no need for them

But if you want a softboard, for whatever reason, then definitely the longer one

Jaffa,

I will be surfing in the island of tinos, which is the island before mykonos. There is a beach that is only for surf. The last 5 years surfing is on the rise here in Greece. Do not imagine great waves but OK for some fun

Tinos has surf? Who knew. Probably a softboard is worthwhile then, I imagine the waves might be crowded with lots of beginners and they wont be big waves by any means - so getting the biggest board is definitely the go (the smaller the wave, the bigger the board).

I literally, yesterday, finished a book set on Tinos - called 'Target:Tinos' by Jeffrey Siger. Probably its the kind of book that Greeks think is an outrageous foreigner simplification of Greece but it was an enjoyable if very light weight read (for a foreigner like me).

Dtc,

Yap there is a single beach named Kolibithres! It is one of the a few surf spots in Greece. You are correct. The surf is small but depending on the weather it can get pretty interesting! I did not know about the book. I will check it out!

Thanx bro!

After a ferry trip from Crete to Santorini in which the ferry was heaving all over the place and about 80% of the passengers were sea sick, I should know you can get a bit of a swell in that region. And that was just from one fairly short storm.

Good luck and have some fun. Her Grace to look after you.
