trip to Joisy (US) for Thanksgiving, any breaks?

Though I've lived in NJ for 7 years, I never surfed there.
Now I'm visiting for Thanksgiving, will be staying in Passaic County.
I haven't really explore the Jersey Shore and was thinking maybe a quick surf outing would be nice.
I'll bring my wetsuit but I can't bring a board. What's the closest decent beach with a surf shop that you guys would recommend?

Got a bud who's family lives there, he says there is always surf before a storm. Not sure where though, sorry, but I bet there are a few local websites that might have some info

You from Jersey? I'm from Jersey! (but have long-lived in CA)

Anyway, if you want to surf a Jersey beach, they are located from Sandy Hook & Asbury Park. That's 60 miles southeast of the City of Passiac. From there southward within Jersey, there are more than 130 surf breaks. None of them are great because it is the northeastern US. You can find better surf out at the east end of Long Island in New York state, but that's about 120 miles east of Passiac. However, if faced with driving that distance into NJ (Atlantic City), I'd go to NY.
