Get my mojo back?

Postby LJSurfa » Wed Jul 31, 2013 9:22 am

Hello all. I have been surfing about 10 years and love it. My problem is that the last year or so I have barely surfed. I live in the UK and about 40 mins from Bournemouth. The only problem is there is rarely surf at Bournemouth and I have lost interest when I turn up and AGAIN there is no surf. It's 4.5 hours to Cornwall so a bit far for a day session.

I was just after some tips to get my motivation back. I snowboard occasionally but again it's a 2 hour drive to the nearest 'real' slope. I also bought a longboard skateboard but there is nowhere to really use it safely.

I just need to get my surf mojo back!

Any thoughts welcome.

Many thanks.

Have you tried k-bay instead? Way better than Bournemouth.

Kbay? I know Highcliffe, Boscome, Bournemouth, Alum, Branksome. That's all I can't think of off the top of my head. Where is KBay?

*DBBB does a quick googlesearch to make sure it's not a semi-secret spot; finds it on MSW*

Much more exposed to the swell than bournemouth for a small extra drive, and doesn't feel like the UK south coast at all. It's still not the most reliable spot in the world, so do some reading up about when it works before making the trip, but a world away from the 1ft dribble at Bournemouth.

Aaahh kimmeridge. Yes I have been there a couple of times. Think I just need to get back in the right head space.

Take up kitesurfing. In the last week i have been out on 9 separate occasions. 2 hour sessions at a time with 2 sessions being in waist to shoulder high swell.
In the evenings i longboard along the promenade, when there's no wind or swell i go fishing from my kayak or swiming and on the rare occasions the surf does come in i go surfing. It does of course help living only 100m away from southbourne beach. :woot:
