kids first waves

Postby stevie » Sat Jul 13, 2013 11:18 am

We are having a great spell of weather in Ireland at the minute so i decided the time was right to introduce the wee ones to waves and body boarding. they are 4, 6, and 8.
what a fulfilling day seeing their expressions when they feel the power of even the smallest waves, i think they are hooked already.
from small acorns grow big trees and as a single dad i hope to spend many happy days in the surf at donegal with my children, giving them an idea of the scale of mother nature and an appreciation of their environment :-)

Well done and more power to you and your children, what an awesome gift you've started to share :D
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

cheers folks, we got the wee nets and caught/released some small crabs and catfish in the rock pools an all but they really did adore the waves the most, i cant wait till we are all surfing together in a few years time.

I took my (then) 5 yr old for his first bodyboard session last summer. He didn't have any interest in it at all. He was much more excited with catching crabs and shrimps in 'crabbing creek'.
He's now dead to me and I'm concentrating on the younger ones

(We're going to have another run at it this summer.)

My kids go 'yay' and charge into the surf to bodyboard (I have to push them usually). Until they fall off. Then its straight out of the water at high speed up to the dry sand and takes at least a day until they are willing to come back.
