Check out your local surf shop and ask the guys/gals working there, they are usually pretty knowledgeable depending on where you live. Are you looking for a shortboard or longboard?

When i was your height(sad to say not the same weight), my mom and dad got me my first board. A 7'6" NSP Funboard. I still use that thing today and i've had it for about 3 or 4 years. Its epoxy so it is super hard to damage(i have literally dropped it straight on to its nose, rails, and tail and nothing but a few chips have occurred). So I have definitely got my moneys worth. I recommend that as a starter. Its kind of in between a longboard and a shortboard.

As for a wetsuit, go for the used section. I got a Vapor that was origionally $370 for 50 bucks that way. It's got some holes in it, but it still hasn't let me down. Good luck!

then maybe check out your local shop, and they will give you a few suggestions based on what you tell them you want. i reccomend checking out the used section, however, look VERY CAREFULLY at what you get. check for dings, scratches, cracks, ect..ive had to return a used board after seeing cracks in it when i got home. not a fun experience.
